About Pixelor
We moved the converter into your browser
Every file converter before us worked the same way: upload your file to a stranger's server, wait, download it back. We build the opposite — codecs that run on your device, so converting a photo is as private as opening one.

The craft
What we actually build
“Runs in the browser” is easy to say and hard to do. It means writing and porting the codecs yourself instead of calling a server that has them.
Our own image codecs
We wrote the encoders Pixelor ships — ICO, TGA, TIFF, BMP, PDF and SVG writers, plus a GIF encoder with median-cut colour quantization — so conversion happens on your device, not on a server rack.
The hard formats, decoded
HEIC from iPhones, PSD from Photoshop, RAW previews from Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras, and PDF rendering — all decoded client-side. These are the files other tools quietly upload; we made them work locally.
Video without upload
Pixelor runs FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Seventeen video containers convert on your machine — the same engine studios rely on, without your footage leaving home.
Honest by architecture
Privacy isn't a policy promise here, it's a design constraint. A client-side converter physically can't read your files server-side. That constraint shapes every engineering decision we make.
Our standards
Expertise you can verify, not just claim
Anyone can say they're experts. We'd rather show working. Our guides and tool roundups score every converter — including ours — on one published rubric: quality, batch support, privacy, ease and price, with fixed weights.
When a competitor beats us, the article says so, with the score to match. Pixelor has never ranked itself first in its own roundups — because on some jobs, we aren't. That honesty is what makes the rankings worth reading.

Our values
The principles behind every tool
Speed first
No upload means no upload wait. The slowest step in most converters is the network; we removed it.
Privacy by design
Your files stay on your device. We don’t store, scan, or sell your media — we never receive it.
Free and accessible
Core conversion is free, without accounts or watermarks. Credit packs exist only for bulk and heavyweight jobs.
Quality matters
Formats are opinionated; so are we. Every converter aims for the cleanest output its target format allows.
Format freedom
From everyday JPG and MP4 to HEIC, RAW, PSD and AVIF — if people get stuck with a file, we want a way out.
Works everywhere
Any device with a modern browser is enough. Desktop, tablet, or the phone the photo was taken on.
The studio behind Pixelor
Part of the ProductChamps suite
Pixelor is built and operated by ProductChamps, a product studio that designs and ships consumer software. That means Pixelor isn't a weekend side project — it draws on the studio's shared expertise in product engineering, performance and user experience across its suite of products.
The same standards apply here as everywhere in the suite: ship fast tools, respect the person using them, and never treat their data as the product.
See it work — that's the whole pitch
Convert a file right now, free, without it ever leaving your device.
